Crane-Simplex


The company "Smith and Mabley Manufacturing Co. of New York City" was founded in the early 20th century by Carleton Raymond Mabley and his brother-in-law Albert Proctor Smith mainly to import European cars for sale in America. They built their first own car in 1904, but the company went banrupt in 1906. In 1907 the company was absorbed into the Simpex Automobile Co. The firm became "Crane-Simplex" after purchasing the Crane Motor Car Company in 1915. This company ceased to existed in 1922.
